This half term we have been focusing in on our reflectiveness and in Year 5 we have been looking at the skill of distilling. Distilling is the ability to pick out key pieces of information for example in a reading text the key words that help us answer a given question. We used the skill of distilling in a Maths lesson when we were given worded problems. We crossed out any unnecessary words and we were then left with the essential pieces of information.

We started by highlighting the key information and deleting the unnecessary pieces of information.
We then used the information above and some previous learning about capacity to answer the question as a class.
